Galapagos

At last I have returned. I went on an amazing trip with my sister and parents to the Galapagos Islands. Before I describe to you the details let my give praise to the Ecuadorian Government. They could not have don't a better job protecting the islands and their native creatures. First of all, they have made a zone seventy miles outside the outer rim of the islands which is off limits to fishermen and poachers. Also, they have also done a great job enlightening visitors about the islands' conservation needs. Now, about the trip. On Thursday, August 25, we landed in Quito, Ecuador, the highest capital city in the world at about 10,000 feet above sea level. Once we arrived we met up with the rest of our group and spent the night in the Swissotel. The next day, we went for a tour of Quito. This tour included a trip to the equator, old Quito, and one of the most magnificent churches in the world. The next day we were off on a flight to the Galapagos. When we arrived in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, on San Cristobal Island. From there we got onto a yacht and were briefed about the trip. From there the trip went from San Cristobal, to Genovesa, Fernandina, Isabela, Santa Cruz, and back to San Cristobal. We saw an amazing array of birds, marine and land Iguanas, Giant sea turtles and tortoises, and sea lions. Although the highlight of the trip for me was all the new friends I made. There were so many nice people on the boat and now we are all friends. I am even planning on visiting one of them in NYC. All in all this trip was phenomenal, and I would recommend it to anyone. That is all. Write me an email at Dionysiusofsyracuse@Yahoo.com for information.

  • Hey Dion,

Sounds like you frolicked with a brood worthy of Darwin! Do you feel that this better prepares you to take a position in the public school controversy over the teaching of Creationism as a valid scientific theory?

    Keep up the healthy skepticism!

  • For your information Nostradamus, I am not in the public school system, so you and your controversy can go to hell. The teaching of creationism, or that god created all life on earth (for all whom don't know), is a complete lie. If you do believe in it, then you are a total fool and have no purpose reading my blog.
